I have my Google Voice number set to "forward texts to Google chat" but Messages doesnt get anything even though it says Im signed into Google. If it is a Google Talk/Chat client then why isnt it getting texts?

No, Google Voice and Google Talk are two different services. Google Voice allows you to send text messages and make VoIP phone calls. Google Talk is for sending messages to your friends on their Google accounts, and is visible while logged into Gmail. This feature doesn't appear to have changed from the older iChat client.

I know they are different but there is an option to forward your texts to "google chat" which appears to be the same thing as Google Talk since all searches of chat take you to talk.
