Hey guys. I could really use some help here. I bought myself a Samsung 830 for my MBP and it's not being detected as a valid installation directory after I install it. I was however able to detect it after booting up with my old HDD so I loaded up disk utility and formatted it as HFS+ and with 1 partition. Is there anything else I could try? this is driving me nuts!

Santa Rosa has SATA (1.5 Gb/s) while Samsung 830 is SATA III (6 Gb/s). In theory the 830 is backward compatible with SATA I but its speed would go at 1.5 Gb/s. Maybe you need to change a jumper in order to get it recognized...

When my 2008 mb would not see it's new hard drive, a PRAM reset made it work instantly.
