Audio stuttering rMBP

Oh dear god this is driving me insane!
Music played through itunes via the media shortcut keys at the top of the keyboard have a very slight stutter very 10 seconds or so, and it makes me want to put my fist through the screen.

Off to restart again....

I noticed this on my rMPB when I first got it and installed ML on it. To be honest, I haven't noticed it recently... but then again I haven't listened to much audio through the internal speakers as of late either.

I had this in the very beginning as well, but it does not do it anymore.

I've used clicktoflash for so long now I almost forget that there is so much crappy flash video online.

I recommend using clicktoflash and stop worrying.

I was going to suggest the same thing, except ClickToFlash is no longer supported in favor of its newer version, ClickToPlugin. But I guess since you have deemed this to be useless and irrelevant to offer suggestions to the OP in dealing with his problem, I shouldn't bother.

By the way, what would be your suggestion to the OP?

click2flash has nothing to do with itunes. therefore your post = useless.

oh wait you can! Yeah, stevelam is officially on my ignore list and anything he replies to this with will be blocked! Just made this forum a little brighter...as for the OP...good luck, with your crap attitude. Asking for help then calling someone trying to help a troll....good job.

try switching to using the dedicated gpu when playing audio. does it all of a sudden stop the stuttering?

this is the same solution i found. The integrated graphics are causing the audio crackles/pops/stutters while the nvidia gpu cures it all. However it's useless as the battery will simply drain faster with the dedicated GPU always set on default. I'm about to go return this and get the cMBP. eh

Hey guys just wondering if you're still having issues? I just got mine last week and seems to only happen on occasion but is getting extremely annoying. Switching to discrete only does seem to solve the issue, but obviously not the greatest for battery life.

Mine did this occasionally the first week or so I had my machine, but I haven't heard it (that I can recall) since that time.

Yeah mines seems to have gone a way for now at least... Really random. Searched around a bit, apple forums has a big thread about it. Apparently its not only rMBP's, but other's who've updated to ML have experienced it as well and it hasn't quit since. At least we know its not a hardware issue.

Calling Apple on Monday To Register Issue

I've already called once on this, but the notes I've found on the call really didn't reflect the issue at all. I'm concerned I've got a year left on my Apple Care, and I really want to make an accurate record of the issue.

I really was planning on selling this iMac and upgrading to the new 2012 one, but with this current problem I'm not sure I'd feel right passing this issue along. Well at least the buyer would be getting a new Seagate HD since Apple had a recall on the Seagate 1TB drives. I thought I'd mention this only because the stuttering problem continues even with a new hard drive and totally new OS install.

I'm an Apple fanboy from way back but this is getting a little old with stuttering going on about every 30 to 45 seconds.

My RMBP does that too occasionally. I thought its because my music library is on the external HD. But then I noticed that it does the same on youtube as well. It bothers me a bit. But the most important program for me is Logic, and I haven't heard it there, not even once. So I'm ok with that and I'm sure it will be addressed in the next update.

EDIT: 2.0 update did not help at all, actually for me stutter became worse in iTunes

This is caused by the EFI bug, which scales the CPU back to its lowest performance state indefinitely. It won't go back up even after you restart the computer, reinstall the OS, or... do whatever else.

The only fix is to reset the SMC of the computer, but then it'll reoccur at some point.

I had this bug for a very long while, and I had to reset the computer every few hours a day just to have smooth playback. And now I somehow "fixed" it. But before that, it was really frustrating.

Yep. Lowest state.

It sounds like a bad joke, but... it's what it is. I had it for 3 months, so I should know. There's a whole other thread dedicated to it.

On my 2.3GHz base rMBP 15", the CPU was throttled to exactly 1.1GHz, and it never clocked itself higher. It caused the whole computer to lag profusely until SMC was reset. Then the CPU clocked back up to 2.3GHz and 3.3GHz like nothing happened. Then out of the blue, it'll go back down to 1.1GHz again.

I've somehow "fixed" it on my computer now, but many are still affected by this bug.
