iPod running disk scan all the time

3rd gen. iPod, just under 2 years old, no previous problems (beyond battery life). a few weeks ago it developed a new habit: almost every time i plug it in to a computer (let's say 4 out of 5 times) to charge or sync, it runs its disk scan thing -- but it always comes up fine.

should i worry? i just filed for the battery replacement class action suit, i don't want this thing to die before i get a shot at a replacement unit.
