1) I understand what you're trying to say now. Don't you think the best chance for internal option (bigger battery, more RAM, bigger CPU ect ect) changes is the external antenna design? If it's any thicker than the 4/4s people will cry like there is no tmr. People can't simply grasp that you have to give up something, thickness or battery life/lower amount of RAM ect ect.
2) It's like the 30pin connector change. Every one is crying related to having to buy all new cables and docking stations as if those things they have now won't work with their current iDevices. I for one am glad they are minimizing outward things to maximize internal space. Seems most people on this forum want a paper thin phone with 5 gigs or ram, a quad core cpu running at 2ghz, 128gig of memory, 20 hour battery life, that continues to use their existing docks and cables. Of course that seems to simply be apple fantasy land but it seems that's what they want. Silly to me but oh well.
3) I now guess I will have to substitute your idea of "a slightly different iPhone 4" with every one else when they say they look the same. Like I've said in other posts, I like the new design (leaked pics/renderings) and will be pre-ordering day one.
1a) You've brought up a very good point about the lack of space inside, especially considering that once again, Apple continues to make it thinner than the prior version. I know that at least with the 4S, Apple addressed the Antennagate issue. My iPhone 4 was downright dreadful. I drive the same route to the office each day. It's a 40 mile trip one way, and I know where the poor reception areas are vs the strong reception areas.
My 3GS would always maintain a connection even if the voice quality would suffer in the weak area.
Upon taking delivery of my iPhone 4, only to find it would drop the call and not reconnect until in the strongest of areas, made the phone nearly useless.
Currently driving that very same route with my 4S, it's call quality is simply stellar. It not only hangs onto the signal, but to date it's not dropped once, no matter where I've been. While some of that credit must go to AT&T as they continue to add antennas (I know this as fact), the balance goes to Apple for delivering a phone with a greatly improved external antenna.
2) Here again, I agree with you, the newer, smaller connector is something I welcome.
3) I believe we're all entitled to our own preferences and opinions. The major reasons I tend to be so outspoken and passionate about Apple are twofold. One is purely my loyalty as a long time customer. The second reason is my status as a very long time investor and shareholder in the company. On that topic, Apple's been a great investment considering I paid a very modest $20 per share when I bought the first batch, then I decided (even when Apple was nearly dead) to remain committed, buying more shares on an annual basis every year thereafter, till the present.
Whatever happens with the next new iPhone, I think it's safe to say it will sell like crazy.
