HELP updated MBP 2010 to mountain lion VOLUME not working

So i just updated my late 2010 13 inch mbp to mountain lion today, now when i hit the volume up key it does not pick up increase the volume. Volume not working at all, cant here anything. Anyone know whats going on??? Tried going into sound prefrance and every thing seems perfectly fine. help please
