Hi,

I use my iPhone, work Droid and home Mac mail (Lion 10.7) app to access gmail.

The phones work great, but the mail app sucks.

I can delete from the phones and the mails are deleted from gmail nicely, but the mail app still shows the deleted emails, if I delete from the OSX mail app, it only deletes from the Mail app. I have checked the settings in OSX and there are no options.

I want the mail app to reflect what is the current state of the mailbox content.

Is there no solution to this?

It sounds like your gmail account may be connected to your Mac via POP3 instead of IMAP. The only way to change this is by adding another account and specifying imap as the protocol. An existing account cannot be changed from POP3 to IMAP or vice-versa.
