Why can't I get caffeine or InsomniaX to work?

For both, I got it to work the first time, danced with rejoice, then tried it again later and it didn't work. Now I can't get either to work. First I tried InsomniaX, unistalled it, then tried Caffeine. I just don't understand why it worked at first and then won't no matter what settings I toggle.
