The Photoshop and Lightroom teams are pleased to announce we will provide support for HiDPI displays in the coming months, including the Retina Display available on the new MacBook Pro. Supporting this new technology requires significant work by our product teams and we’re committed to provided a free update to all Photoshop CS6 customers this Fall and Lightroom 4 as soon as the work is complete.

Also:

We expect to update the following products with HiDPI support, free to all CS6 and Creative Cloud customers, over the next few months:

Dreamweaver

Edge Animate

Illustrator

Lightroom

Photoshop

Photoshop Touch

Prelude

Adobe Premiere Pro

SpeedGrade

We are currently evaluating the roadmap for when other products may support HiDPI displays, and we will announce those plans as they are finalized.

I didnt understand what the big deal about retina was besides more real estate.

this video made me understand; http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=94OenZ71ADY

its not more resolution. its resolution independence. it means that the UI is using different scaling that the very content your working with.

That article says the update will first roll out to subscribers of Creative Cloud (Adobe's $20/month subscription service); then in an indeterminate time we actual owners of Adobe software will get the update, if ever. Coming this fall can mean anywhere from next month to November. Again it won't roll out to everyone immediately.

Sounds like Adobe wants people to pay their subscription service instead of buying perpetual licenses. Yeah, so don't hold your breath!
