I have an Early 2011 15" Macbook Pro with a Hi-Res Matte display. I've been getting this vertical blue line about an inch long on the display and it's really starting to bother me now. It used to come and go but it hasn't gone away in quite a while now. Sometimes the brightness of the line fluctuates but it always returns to the same blue color. Here's a photo to get an idea:

Does anyone know what could cause this and if there's anyway to fix it?

Most likely a faulty display panel, possibly a damaged signal cable from the display to the logic board.

So I guess I'm going to have to take it into a shop to get it fixed then?
