I got my Apple TV today. I was gutted to find out that the Apple DVD player doesn't work with AirPlay mirroring to my TV. VLC does work but I'd love to have a player that works with AirPlay and uses the apple remote for DVD menu navigation in the same way as the built in DVD player.

I should add that I'm playing rips so 'get a DVD player' won't win the prize!:D

Any ideas?

Airplay mirroring will not send remote comands to the computer.

Just get a usb mouse.

also vlc is your best bet or just rip the movies and put them in to itunes

handbreak does a good job and is easy to use

Thanks for the reply. It's the apple remote that I had with my old MacBook that I usually use to control the DVD player as opposed to the apple tv one, so it controls my mac mini directly. Since posting I've downloaded VLC Amigo for my phone and iPad and think that's the way to go for now. Seems to do everything I want and more so I'm happy!

I do rip just the films from quite a lot of my DVDs but I like the options that the menus give on a few. Commentaries and info text etc.
