Didn't Tim Cook say they didn't call the new iPad 'iPad 3' as it was too predictable?

Well, they didn't call the iPhone 5 'the new iPhone' as that would've been too predictable!

It's a "5" because it's NOT the iteration number, stupid! That way 3GS was #3.

It'll be the "New iPhone".

The 5 refers to the new 5" iPod Touch which will be complemented by the 7" "Mini iPad" when it's launched in October.

Must admit, after the iPad that comes as a surprise to me.

Not that it matters even remotely, but thought they might be executing a slightly broader naming strategy starting with the iPad.

This is unusual for Apple in many ways, most notably how it's going to happen about exactly a week after the Nokia/Windows Phone announcement. Comparisons will be everywhere, and if Apple doesn't deliver on NFC and Wireless charging in a 4.5" device, it will appear as though they're slipping.

And they won't add that much tech to the iPhone 5. Or if they do, color me surprised.
