That is incorrect. They call it a '3' series or '5' series, and following numbers are to indicate the approximate engine size (so 325 is a 2.5 etc) The actual models are designated E so it would be a BMW 325 E46 etc etc.

Edit - ignore me! I misread what you wrote.

Ok so when the Playstation 4 is announced (for example) will people be up in arms at Sony for calling it the PS4 when technically it's the PS7 (if you include slim releases)...?

Why all the fuss? Just because it's the 6th iteration doesn't mean it HAS to be called the '6'...damn people!

iPhone 5 = 5th generation of the phone

It's not hard to understand, unless you are extremely stupid or simple.

No, that hasn't been publicized. I'm guessing about an hour, maybe an hour and a half.

I told you. The 5 means 5th anniversary of the iPhone. It won't be called the iphone 5 or 6.

Care to expand on this now?

maybe 5 news?

Just a thought.
I also thought that 5 would mean not only iPhone 5 but also 5 news.

Thinking about 5 updates/upgrades, I may list 5 i-line ups as follow.

iPhone 5
iPod (touch, nano, and shuffle?)
ipad (mini?)
iTunes Update
iOS 6

Since there is another rumor saying that iPad mini will be announced at a separate media events, iPod lines may be divded in to two groups, i.e., touch and nano.

True, very true. But in the past Apple made name by doing both, building great looking machines that blew the pc in order of how it was made and when looking at the horsepower. And horsepower is no facebook, it's what "pro" users simply need.
