Hi,

I have a rMBP 2.3Ghz running mountain lion 10.8.1. It runs fine most of the time but I can feel the lagging sometimes. Until yesterday I hook up xbench to figure out what exactly the performance is, and surprisingly, the scores are really low - only 153 on cpu and memory. Especially the cpu score is only 103, which is based on some Core2Duo processor I guess. The scores are consistent all the time, no mater how I run it (different user, different video card mode, plug-in or battery, safe mode, etc.)

Attached is my xbench score with only cpu and memory tests.

My question is - are there some switches or settings that can underclock my cpu?

Thanks,

Very odd, here's mine (2.3 8GB Retina) for comparison.

update:

I ran Geekbench this time and still got very low score: 4371, which suppose to be more then 10k I think.

I also get into Apple Hardware Test (press D while booting), and the test takes forever to run (more than 10min, and I cannot wait till finish).

any ideas?

You definitely have a problem. Either you have a program or task that is hogging your resources, or you need a new machine.

Yeah that's crazy low for such a wicked machine. My early 2011 15" 2.2 GHz, 8Gb gets just over 10k on GeekBench. Definitely something that needs to be investigated. I wish I could offer some specific advice, rather than just corroborating that your machine is having an issue, but alas, that's left for Mac geniuses smarter than I.

Good luck.

Thanks for the feed back. I checked the activity window and console, nothing interesting.

Guess my macbook will go to apple store tomorrow.
