Doors open at 6am thinking its going to be a mad dash to the Apple Store if all doors open at 6, which door are you queuing from.

Following you totalkharnage.

Hi guys,

I work at Odeon Cinemas at the Traffird Centre and morning shifts start at 7 with team leaders starting work at 6:30. If we are on the early shifts we use the doors at the food court to get in. The ones next to Nandos are usually open early on.

Thanks mate. never been to an early morning launch before so no idea ! was thinking the one near Selfridges but not sure. Going to be there for around 4am to case the joint and pick the best one.

If we all ring TC maybe we can convince them to open up early for us??

Asked the question mate but not had a reply yet. If we definitely know which door then would make it much easier. Don't like the idea of queuing up outside for ages only to have someone rock up and join the Apple store queue ahead of me.

Like I posted above, maybe we could petition the TC to open earlier or they might feel sympathy for us when we're all queuing outside on the day

I really can't see (or I hope) them allowing a mad rush from the door to the store. The Arndale last launch operated a single entrance queue and escorted groups between the entrance and the inner queue when the centre opened. We need the experience of someone from the 4s or iPad 3 event. Anyway will be there as early as is allowable.

I was there last year for the 4s Launch. I arrived at about 7am as i was collecting mine from the Three store. when i arrived the queue (to the apple store, not three) was (for those who know the TC or look at the map from an earlier post), was already past clintons, burtons, down the corridor past the entrance to selfridges out to the carpark and part way down the stairs to the ground floor car park. As I was waiting for three (there was only about 5 of us so i didnt feel the need to stick to the door) i went to speak to some guys who were about 30 or so people back and they told me theyd got there at about 4am and that the person at the front had apparently been there since 10pm the night before. I cant say for sure, and it could be different this year, but if they were right then there isnt any set opening time?

By the time i was done at Three (about 8:15am ) i walked back past the line feeling all smug as all those poor souls looked on longingly and the box i was holding; the queue had grown down the stairs and well into the lower car park. and yeah, from what i remember the staff were moving people through in groups by that point.

Sadly this year im still in contract, but i may well cave and buy a new handset sim free and sell my 4s. Though i've not got the day off and i dont think the queue was moving that quickly from what i remember (i guess all the people setting up contracts, activating phones etc rather than just paying for a handset then heading off).

10 pm :-O

As DavidWildJnr says, I hope they make it clear where to queue up and which door to use so that people aren't having to rush when the doors do open.

Think another call might be in order tomorrow.

the Trafford centre have confirmed the following:

Our giant Apple store opens at 8am for the global kick-off and our other mobile stores like o2 and Vodaphone will be opening at the same time of 8am for contract customers.

Our 3 Store will open at 7:30am.

The Trafford Centre car parks will all be open from 4am, and all our doors will open at 5am for those Apple fans keen to be the first to own the new model.

We would request that customers refrain from running on the Malls for their own safety and comfort. Queues will be in operation, and all timings were correct at time of publication.

If car parks are closed, where are you planning on waiting? Queuing up for car park?

If the Orient doesn't close till 12 then the car park has to be open until at least 12:30. So there should be time to park.

Just seen it on their website too. Asked the what time the car parks close. They may have some security procedure to say all cars have to be outside the car park barriers but will wait and see.

Will have to see. BIG car parks to check though. Especially the overflows at the back. Will leave a note in window with the entrance that I'm at. Like I said we will see. Most of us will have an OS6 destraction tomorrow. :-)

I think so. But the more company the better. The path leading to entrance 3 is covered so we will stay dry.
