Choice of three, O2 or Vodafone. I assume. http://store.apple.com/uk/browse/hom.../family/iphone

What I mean is the three networks dealt with in store. For contracts. PAYG is whatever you put in it. Assuming you can get or cut down a nano sim

You will be on whichever network you decide to be on. The SIM card you decide on will decide that. By buying sim free you give yourself the luxury to choose or change networks whenever you want. Even to EE when it becomes possible.

Note the last line about transferring.

Last time I queued, people were really good about covering breaks. Ask the question when you get in the inside queue. It's an ice breaker.

I'm in contract with O2, and they're going to take time to switch to 4G. Would I still be able to use my O2 sim in the iPhone 5 without using 4G? Anyone knowledgeable in this area, a reply would be greatly appreciated.

Yes, you can use it fine as its the only version of iPhone in the UK.

Although O2's future 4G won't be compatible with the iPhone 5... Although the 5S will be out by then!

So after advising people what time to get there, I sold my iPhone last night, set alarm, went off 3 hours late, got there and huge queue already, there a few hours and guy comes saying no 16GB's left, so I talked myself into the 32. Half an hour later and along 64 left and I might not get one.

So just left. First one I've ever missed!

there is a clause in the sale that 3 cant launch a 4G LTE service using that spectrum until September 2013 (12 months after purchase).

There really is no alternative to EE if you want 4G in the next year.

What can I say, madness and mayhem and after nearly 8 hours in the queue, I got what I wanted.

Apple really should make it card-purchases only. I felt a lot was spoiled by the 'professionals' as I called them today.

Hope everyone else got what they wanted!!
