Anyone here know if there is big performance difference between similarly equipped Ivy Bridge Dual Core i7 Processor in MBP 13 2012 model compared to Quad Cord i5 2011 Model ? I need some feedback for LR4+CS6 usage. No gaming so dont care about that aspect, Will be doing some editing in iMovie & Slideshows in Aperture.
My current config is 2010 Core2Duo 2.4GHZ MBP13 equipped with 256GB SSD+8GB RAM.
I know it is easier to upgrade MBP to SSD compared to iMac so need some advise as I'm sick and tired of keep waiting for 2012 iMac that is like never happening.

I beg to differ, only the GPU in the iMac is THAT much more powerful.

Check Primelabs Geekbench results.

My 2011 Quad-i5 results were weak, even compared to my brothers Dual Core i5 2012 13" MBP.

my 2011 3.1 Quad-i5 Results - 8662 - http://browser.primatelabs.com/geekbench2/563015
2012 13" i7 Results - 7800-8000 - http://browser.primatelabs.com/geek...:"Intel Core i7-3520M" frequency:2900 bits:32

Ill post my brothes 2012 13" i5/8GB/240GB SSD results shortly, I need to re-run them.

Thanks all for your reply, I just want to make some decision before student discounts for MAC runs out by this weekend. I'm not intersted in any form of gaming on MAC but I do use iMovie from time to time to edit movies. My primary use is though for digital image editing using LR4 + CS6.
