Yes, that RAM should work just fine.

Have a quick look at crucial ram as well first. They tend to sell RAM at quite a competitive price. Plus have a system scanner for anyone not sure so they can find exactly what ram would fit your system to give you piece of mind.

I agree on the "for Mac" bit. It's a sales gimmick, most hardware is already compatible and others just require very simple formatting.

just finished installing the 8GB upgrade from Crucial.. I have to say that it is noticeably faster.. websites are pretty much instant so far..

Not sure if this helps boot up time but that seemed faster as well... Also my computer isn't bogged down with files and tons of music.. so that helps boot up i'm sure...

Thanks for the upgrade guys..

I picked up the corsair "mac memory" 16GB kit but it was on sale at newegg.ca for about $85 about a month ago. Surprising it was the cheapest deal around at the time. I knew the "mac mark up" that is usually in it, but the reg kit was more expensive at the time.

Can the late mbp 2011 support over 8gb of ram? I thought it was maxed due to processor/mobo? Perhaps I am misinformed!

well i have an early 2011 MBP... 2.3Ghz, i5, 320HD..

Max i thought was 16GB.. i just did 8GB because i only surf the net, and have multiple screens open..

I just followed what crucial recommended on there site...

I have a late-2011 MBP 15" that originally had 4GB (2x2GB) installed. I upgraded to the Crucial 16GB (2x8GB) kit with no problems. The system reports it's all there, so it at least sees it.
