Long time lurker, first time poster...

So I'm sure I'm in the same boat as many others on here. Back when the 15" MacBook Pro got Retina treatment I was disappointed to hear that the 13" version didn't get the update as well. I was once again disappointed this past week to hear that once again there was no 13" Retina MacBook Pro released.

So I'm left once again waiting until October with my fingers crossed that this machine becomes a reality.

Until then, who thinks that Apple will release a 13" Retina MacBook Pro next month?

Yay or Nay? Why? Or why not?

i say more likely a 13" MBA with retina

the only reason i dont see a 13 rMBP is in order to make the rMBP that much different than and MBA is to have a quad core, detected GPU and 16GB ram and for these specs that would price the 13 rMBP at about $1899 which might be too much for a 13" computer

I think NAY.

The problem is that Apple still hasn't worked out the best way to keep performance up on the 15" Retina MacBook yet... so it'll be a lot worse on a less powerful 13" MacBook.

Plus if it was to be reality, we should have heard more about it by now. It's already September 18.

Looking at the prices of the 15 inch models

I'd say the 13" Retina MacBook Pro prices would look something like this

$1529 Base Low End
2.5 GHz
8 GB RAM
256 GB SSD

UPGRADE OPTIONS
2.7 GHz + $370
16 GB +$200
512 GB +$500
768 GB +$1000

$1850 Base High End*
2.9 GHz
8 GB RAM
512 GB SSD

UPGRADE OPTIONS
3.0 GHz + $270
16 GB +$200
768 GB +$500

Those prices are ridiculous. Period.

You haven't fully calculated several things. First of all, the increase in SSD memory for the high end model isn't reflected in the price etc. etc.

My guess is that if it's not the MBA with a Retina refresh, the base model (if there is a dedicated GPU) will be basically at the same price of the current 15 inch cMBP or a very similar price.

Same I'm starting to be less convinced but I'm still hoping.

.

That's how Apple has it calculated between the two models of 15" Retina MacBook Pros

Not to be rude. But you're kidding me right?

NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M with 1GB of GDDR5 memory

15-inch: 2.6 GHz Retina display
2.6GHz quad-core Intel Core i7

600 dollar difference for the +100 dollar upgrade of the processor and +500 dollar upgrade of the SSD. I'm really not sure what you're talking about.

Somehow my gut feeling says that if the 13 rmbp comes out,
It will be named 13" Retina Macbook with the specs of current 13 mbp plus the retina screen but instead of 500gb it will use 128 gb ssd as base.

That's basically what I want. A MacBook Pro with a thinner profile. I don't need te extra weight of a HD or an optical drive. Sure I can swap out the optical drive and put in an SSD. But I can't shave the thickness down myself.

And sure the MackBook air is more portable, but it lacks the power I'm looking for. I think a 13" retina MacBook Pro would satisfy many people. Just a matter of time if we'll actually see it.

With Microsoft adding retina display to office and other apps adding retina support I think we'll be seeing a 13" Retina Model in October. You would think Apple would want more of their notebooks making use for retina enabled Apps and programs

Fingers crossed

Or... you would think they want to sell more Retina 15" MacBook Pro...

There is still no indication of a 13" MacBook at this point. We are already 2/3 past September. If one is indeed in production, Apple should already start shipments from China.

Plus if OS X 10.8.2 is any indication, it still points to Apple being unable to harness the integrated graphics for handling Retina.

News from the Taiwan supply chains say ipad mini & improved ipad 3 will appear on Oct 5, so rMBP may not be on that show
