Hi all,

After upgrading to iOS 6, my auto brightness setting on my iPhone is missing. I've tried a clean install as well. The setting does show up on my iPad.

I never used auto dimming because it didn't work the way I wanted it to.

It would actually do the opposite. At night I want it dimmer because it gets too bright. In the day I want it brighter because it's harder to see in the sunlight.

Anyway, even my gf here in Japan said, "you have to do all of that just to dim your iPad/iPhone?"

At least with iOS 6 there is now a dimmer slider in the app tray. Don't know why they couldn't do that with iOS 5.

Sorry if I'm way out of the loop on this . . .but where is the dimmer slider in the app tray? You mean the app switcher tray?

Hi, Yup. At least its there on the iPad with iOS 6. Should be the same with iPhone and iOS 6.

Yeah, auto-dimming does not work for me. SUPER bright at night before bed.

This is exactly how my auto dimming works. It starts off dark then it brightens like in the sun or a bright room, and dims when its dark.

It would never auto dim for me in iOS 5, not sure whether it was supposed too. But it does on iOS 6......on occasion.

It is there for me but does not work at all! I use it first thing in the morning so the phone dims in my dark bedroom and since 6 (even with a clean install) it does not work at all.

Just one of the things on my list of crap that seems broken in iOS6 for me.

I have the same issue, the auto brightness toggle disappear on my iphone 4.
I bought it second hand and just notice this problem.

Another serious issue is that the proximity sensor is not working as well. Not sure if they are related at all... or the previous owner replaced the screen before and stuff it up.

I am now trying to restore it and see if it helps.

Anyone else have the same problem?
