I updated to OSX 10.8.2 and then to iPhoto 9.4 this morning….

iPhoto seems to crash every time I open…

Is anyone else experiencing the same problem?? If yes, is there a fix for it?

Also do you know if this is a 'bug' in the new iPhoto 9.4 ?

Thanks

Same here. I had to revert back to iPhoto 9.3.2 from my time machine backup and restore an older picture file. Hopefully Apple fixes this soon.

I am surprised that I haven't seen many people complaining about it.....

Perhaps, most of them are pretty ticked off with the SHODDY MAPS on iOS6 to give iPhoto 9.4 crash a thought....

I hope Apple sort it quick as I use iPhoto quite a lot for work....

Same here, ridiculous. Restoring iPhoto from time-machine results in unable to open library due to being edited by a newer version of iPhoto.

Upgrade done. All is fine here. No crash and have tried doing several things to be sure as I do not normally use iPhoto but all seem to work fine.

Same problem here, but I was able to fix it by deleting com.apple.iPhoto.plist in library/preferences, then restarting iPhoto

Mate - can you do me a favour and tell me step by step how you did it?

I would like to have a go with your method and see if it solved my problem.

Thanks in advance

With Finder showing in the menu bar, click "Go" while holding down the "Option" key. Continue to hold the option key and select "Library", then scroll down and select "Preferences", find "com.apple.iPhoto.plist" and delete it. Restart iPhoto. That should do it

:( the file com.apple.iphoto.plist is not existing in the Preferences !!!!!!!

Thanks for trying to help, but I think I will have to wait for Apple to solve it for me.

I updated like everyone else (10.8.2 and iPhoto 9.4) and was nervous to open it, but there's no problems crashing here.

After the upgrade to 9.4 last night, this morning I found that if I tried to synch my iPad with photos, I would get error code 1140. With photos turned off, no error code. Also with Photos turned on, I could not select which iPhoto albums to push to the iPad.

Solution: Hold down Option and Command keys and start iPhoto. You should get a dialog box of repair tools. The first one is to check and repair file permissions. The permissions tool found i had a problem and fixed it. After that, iTunes could synch the iPhoto albums I selected to my iPad.
