iPhone 5 won't sync

Evening guys

Just got my iPhone 5 this morning and It wont sync with iTunes.
Pc recognises an input as it makes a sound when plugging in, but it doesnt come up in iTunes.
Anyone else experiencing this?

You need to upgrade to iTunes 7.0
I did that, and the iphone shows up, however, I am having trouble syncing it now. It says it's preparing to sync and then won't start.

You need to reset all settings on iPhone.

Does resetting your settings - I know it forces a reboot - damage your device in some way? Shorten its lifespan? Make it slower? Etc.. Iv never really liked to reset devices unless I really, really have to.

NO damage. Just the effort to reconfigure customised settings.
