dead pixel in iphone 5 camera?

I don't have that. And it looks like some kind of chip in the lens. Definitely not normal, make a genius appointment.

Agreed. Gotta be a manufacturing defect or damage. Get it replaced.

I don't think you know what a dead pixel is.

I had the exact same issue with my first iPhone 5. Had it replaced with a new one.

Bringing up this old post to say I'm having the same... oddly, it developed after time (earlier photos did not have it).

A small aberration would likely be a defect with the camera module, such as a dead pixel, but this looks much larger - from my days staring into a microscope in the biology labs this looks to be just dust or dead skin on the inside of the lens and the purple is caused by diffraction around it and the sapphire lens.

Looks like some kind of semi liquid substance to me, adhesive maybe?

Actually, it looks a lot like it could be dust, or a fiber of fabric resting on the imaging sensor. I've seen that commonly on dSLR cameras with removable lenses, but it's definitely a manufacturing defect if it's on an iPhone since there are no removable/cleanable parts to the camera.

Not a dead pixel, but still something you need to get Apple to fix.
