earth, for now.
Hi folks,

I'm slightly curious about something. I know that Kanex XD is a device that will allow a user to connect an Xbox or PS3, or whatever HDMI device to the iMac and use the display. All fine and dandy.

My question is -- Can MY Late 2009 iMac handle the Kanex XD style adapter to bring in VIDEO from a device? :)

There is this DEVICE -- at a Fraction of the Price... $5.40 - It's just NO one has mentioned the use of inputting HDMI devices, even though it says it can.. Support mini DisplayPort 1.1a input and HDMI 1.3b output

I appreciate any advice, comments or whatever you could share my way! I'm just being a curious bee right now and checking some CHEAP alternatives then the Kanex XD, which is $149

That cable can not be used. The mdp on the iMac is output only. You need a Kanex or similar device.

The reason why I was thinking it might of worked is because of this...

It says that the Kanex XD works for the Late 2009 model..
