Ok, so the majority of the time whenever I restart or power on my Mac boot noise sounds immediately after the disc noise but lately I get a 2 second pause. What does this mean?

Might not mean anything. If nothing is broken functionality wise and the machine is not slow, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Well actually my Mac is starting to heat up and the fans are running a LOT more than they used to. I'm doing stuff I've always been doing and I have never had trouble and now my fans are almost full blast. ???

Post your temperatures and a screenshot of your activity monitor of the CPU activity.

If you feel the fans are acting up, try resetting the SMC of your macbook pro (google for instructions)
