Hi,

This started happening a little while ago.

I have no idea what's caused it, but it's very annoying.

Sometimes I'll turn on my computer and the volume keys + onscreen controls will both work, but then, at some point, the keys stop working, then the volume control in the top menu bar (along with wifi, battery etc) will sometimes stop working, leaving me to go into preferences to control the volume, which (not sure about this one) I think occasionally stops working too.

I am running 10.6.8

Can anyone suggest anything to get rid of this bug?

Anybody???

I saw this thread but decided not to post as I no longer have any machines running SL. Mine are either running Leopard, Lion or ML. I have never noticed any unusual behavior with the volume function keys or on screen setting. I should also mention that I switched off those annoying email-based notifications in Mountain Lion so I have little reason to go running for the volume control. With on-screen popups for every email, it was getting downright windows-like there for a moment.
