A good speaker system/setup?

Those Klipsch speakers are great. The only thing i will say is i've seen the subwoofer unit go bad, like it stops producing sound. They will be good speakers for the price. Since you mention that bass is really important and your less $200 price point i think those are probably the best speakers for your money. I personally have Bose Companion 2 speakers but i listen to everything and have a decent home theater system i put together (Polk and Yamaha) when i want bass If you have a Best Buy or speaker store around feel free to demo speakers before you buy them. For a PC setup, I think 2.0 systems are the best. For a 2.0 i would recommend Audioengine 2's or Audyssey's Media Speakers. I've had 2.1 systems and 5.1 systems on a PC and honestly I like having a decent 2.0. But thats just me. I went from having a creative 5.1 system to these little Bose speakers and i really like them. But honestly for a really nice 2.1 go with the Klipsch. Since you want good clean and probably loud bass the subwoofer on that system is great. I worked at a school district and they had a ton of them, they would use them with Wii's and play DDR and the sub really pumps!

I second the bookshelf speakers. Depending on your living situation, if your neighbors downstairs don't like bass, a subwoofer on the floor result on "turn that *hit* down phone calls, rendering your new purchase to quiet for your liking.

I am currently using a set (on loan) of M-Audio DSM2, they are PHEnomenal for techno. The DSM2s are too big and probably way over budget for you.

If there is any way you could listen to a set of the M-Audio BX5 D2 I have a feeling you would love them. May not exactly fit on your desktop though.
