I spilled juice on my macbook pro and It turned on back after 10 hours but...

Accidentally I spilled juice on my macbook pro while the lid is closed and in sleep mode. After that I cleaned everything with cloth, but my mac didn't turn on or charge. But I could see green battery indicator on the side.

After researching in various forums I kept my mac in rice tin at night and in the morning when I tried it turned on. But many people suggested never turn it on unless completely sure that it is dry, so switched it off immediately.

Now how long should I wait to turn it on back and can I be sure that my circuit board wasn't fired up? I am very anxious and depressed can some one throw a word of advice what to do now?

You need to wait as long as you can, nothing more, nothing less. As your Mac didn't turn on or show any indication of charging it`s likely that fluid ingress has occurred. You may get off lucky and only need to replace the power supply board, or you may have to replace the majority of the internals.

I would start looking for a independent Apple repair specialist in your area, as Apple will want to replace all effected board`s which is very costly. Bottom line is the longer you can leave your Mac off the better, only you know how long that is...

Yesterday it wasn't turning on but today morning it turned on, and just now I gave it to independent apple repairer to dry the system as I can't do that myself. I think the internal components might not have damaged because it turned on. What do you say?

I am sorry, however it`s impossible for me to say what the outcome will be, hopefully it wont be too big an issue, and you will get your Mac back soon.

I use Rain Designs Mstands to prevent this very situation, the cost of the stand, and Apple keyboard and Magic Trackpad by far outweighs the cost of a Logic board. Anyone can have an accident and in my case I have a couple of little ones running around, it`s just so easy to have a spill. On a $500 PC you may be able to live with it on an Apple Retina MBP or a standard Unibody it`s avery different story.

I want and encourage my kids to spend time with me in my home office, and if worst comes to worst there is only a cleanup job to worry about. The work on my Mac`s contributes to the household, therefore it makes sense to safeguard them...
