macOS Automator and/or Applescript Help

Hello,

I was wondering if anyone would be willing to help me create an automator task and/or applescript. What I would like to accomplish is for my mac to monitor for new files/folders in a certain location. Once new files have been added, I would like my mac to open a program (Max) and convert the files in order to be added to iTunes.
Is this possible? If so, would anyone be willing to help me?
