I wonder if silence yesterday on the iTunes update means there are delays
Any thoughts?

I believe it will still come out by the end of October, just be patient.
Apple's site still states October as the release time. (Here is their page on it) http://www.apple.com/ca/itunes/new-itunes/ |

Yesterday was 100% hardware. Also Apple already covered iTunes and it would be redundant to cover it again.

Apple said "end of October" so take that literally. It'll be be the END of October. I'm betting Tuesday of next week (Oct. 30) and no earlier, but maybe a Halloween "treat" the next day.

I'd be really surprised if we don't all have it by Wednesday. I was a little surprised they didn't mention anything at first as well, but I think it makes sense that they wouldn't spend that time talking about software that had already been announced--that event was for the iPad and iPad mini, etc.
