I'm planning to get an external display for my macbook pro 13" baseline model, and there seems to be no port for an external display. Is there maybe an adapter for the thunderbolt port that would work for a regular VGA monitor?

tldr; need monitor, no port for macbook pro, possible adapter?

Mini DisplayPort to VGA Cable

But doesn't your monitor have a better connection than VGA? DisplayPort, DVI, or HDMI are generally better if you have them. Monoprice has them, and they're all cheaper than Mini DP -> VGA.

VGA is on its way out, most modern monitors will give you much better choices like HDMI, DisplayPort or DVI.
There are adapters to MBP13's Thunderbolt (Mini DisplayPort) made by Apple and various vendors.
