Help converting a rtf file

Hi guys, I would like to know if any of you can help me to convert two rtf files in order to save its content. I would really appreciate that since I have been trying a lot of things and so far couldn't do it by myself.

I gonna share the dropbox link for both files and please let me know if you can save the content in any other format which would work. I'm very desperate right now.

Did someone send them to you? If so, ask them to send them to you again in a proper format for the kind of what is in there, as those .rtf files are BIG, 27 MB and 58 MB for text files is huge, unless there are a lot of photos or graphics embedded.
Maybe ask the sender to use the .doc(x) or .pdf format.

Do you know, what is supposed to be in those two files? I couldn't open them in either TextEdit nor Pages.

That's odd - Text Edit normally does just fine with .rtf files. Are these corrupted?

There's only plain text in these files. No pictures or any special code. It was generated in some Judiciaire app and it keeps generating the same files over and over no matter how many times I try. Nobody sent it to me, I used that Windows judiciaire app to generate the list and it only exports to rtf and already broken, as it seems.

Using Finder on ML I can see the content of the file but can't open it anywhere.

Something not quite right with these files.

RTF can also handle bitmap images encoded in either a hexadecimal or binary format. The control word \pict always begins a group containing bitmapped data. A \pict group might appear in an RTF code stream as follows:

Following the \pict group is the actual bitmap data, which is hexadecimal in format by default (as shown in the example below). If the data is in binary format, it is preceded by the \bin control word, followed by the number of bytes of binary data that follow.

There's only plain text in these files. No pictures or any special code.

Edit : You can open them on Windows in WordPad and save as plain txt files.

I've had issues with .rtf files recently as well. Perhaps a coincidence, but TextEdit told me that it was corrupted, yet it worked just fine on a Windows machine.

Thank you guys. I couldn't make it work on Windows as well. Tried with Wordpad, Notepad and MS Word. :/

First thing I tried was textutil to convert the file. Then I tried catting the file and pipe it into pbcopy so I could paste it in TextEdit. Both of them didn't work. The next thing I tried was to fire up a Windows virtual machine and see if could open the file with WordPad. It opened just fine. Maybe I was lucky I don't know although 12dylan34 also said it worked just fine on a Windows machine.

Procedure : Startup Windows, open the file with WordPad.
Tools : Windows XP Prof x64, WordPad
