Issue with my Xbox 360 and TV (Too much contrast?!)

I have a 4GB Xbox 360 Slim console.

Using component or HDMI inputs on my HDTV results in contrast being extremely high, to the point where I have to turn brightness up to "Very High" in Halo Reach for it to be remotely playable.

Using the VGA input is perfectly fine.

Anybody know what the issue might be?

(TV is a Apex 32" Class 720p 60Hz LCD HDTV - Black (LD3288M))
