Best screencast / screen recording apps for mac?
So far from my research, Screenflow is the most recommended and feature rich. But as expected, its also the most costly.
My primary aim is just to record HD videos for youtube. Some features that I prefer to have is as below:
Next on the list I have is iShowU HD and Screenium. But I'm not sure if they have the features I want. Anyone who has used them could share whether it has the features above? If possible, pls provide a link to youtube, or whichever to have a look at the video quality. Thanks. |

There may be something that can do editing in the recorder for cheap but I haven't heard of any other than what I said. Your screwed. Just get Ishow u (screenuim sucks for frame rate) or maybe something called screeny in the Mac app store. Its 15 bucks. But you only record and select what region of the screen you want. I haven't tried it, so I can't say how good it is speed wise in capturing moving video and games. But it looks good from a couple of YouTube vids I saw. When the wifi comes back in from hurricane sandy I'll try and look for a demo. |

Guess its better to save some bucks to get a good one than to get one with limited features and regret later. |

Screenflow is amazing! Especially v4 which has just been released.
Well worth the money for the number of features you get. Plenty of tutorials on YouTube too

Yep, another vote for Screenflow, the best Mac Screencast App out there. Have just published my first screencast with it.

Help!!
There's a camtasia bundle going on for $49.99 at https://stacksocial.com/sales/the-istack-mac-bundle-2-0 And a 30% off all telestream apps, screenflow included of course, going on at http://networkedblogs.com/F1duE Camtasia is winning in price. But I'm not interested in the rest of the apps in the bundle, so I'm willingly to pay a bit more for screenflow if its better. I'd watched a few youtube comparison between the two, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JTUnTl_wdO0 for example. Those that compares the 2 recommends Camtasia although they cite there's no big difference between the two but personal preference. But many individuals seems to prefer screenflow more. Pls post links to your screencast you did? Just get more reference. Does screenflow have audio editing features? I'd not seen that before. But I know Camtasia is able to increase/decrease volume for the audio. |

I just tried trail versions for both. Maybe its the settings? But Camtasia seems to have a better mp4 output, although its size is like 50% more than Screenflow.
But Screenflow's "web - high" output isn't impressive. High chance I'm going for Camtasia in that case. |

ScreenFlow is on sale until November 26 for $70.
http://sites.fastspring.com/telestre...11_Blackfriday I believe either will let you tweak video and audio setting to your heart's content if the defaults to not suit you.
