Hi-

Thinking of selling my '08 to a friend. What would be a fair asking price?

It's the 2.8 octo, has the Apple wifi, 10 gigs RAM (the stock 2 plus 4 2 gig sticks).

Has the whatever the stock graphics card was, but it got switched out for a new one while still under AppleCare.

Thanks

As a starting point, you can check Mac2Sell, eBay (including completed sales), or Amazon for prices of similar models, to get an idea of what a reasonable price may be. Then adjust the price to account for condition, configuration, remaining AppleCare coverage (if any), etc.

I kind of discounted eBay since people go a little nuts on there and there wouldn't be any shipping involved, but I hadn't heard of mac2sell.
Thanks

I have a 2008 quad 2.8 mac pro with 2GB RAM (lame I know) - I'm just cleaning it up for sale and looking for £650 if I can get it, but realistically i'd be happy with £600.

Yeah, I was thinking somewhere in the neighborhood of $1,200.
Mac2sell came back with $1,790 which seemed kind of high....

yeh i'd say that's a little high, but probably you could ask $1500. If you're looking to sell to a friend though just accept what ever you'd be happy with
