I just picked up a 1st generation apple tv and would like to know if it's necessary to update the software on it? It seems that I'm not able to rent movies right now from the itunes store.
I'm hesitant to update the software after my recent experiences with updating software (to iOS6) on my iphone and not able to go back after doing that.
