He does seem to be doing poorly in VA compared to 08 so I'm guessing he'll lose that.

ABC said that he did.. Like how cocky can you get. Obama wrote one in case he loses the office. That saids a lot bout the character between the two

I heard this on either CNN or MSNBC about an hour and a half ago as well. Something's telling me he might only need that acceptance speech, unfortunately. The suspense is really getting to me.

As a Marylander, and an independent, that is a good thing, but I do not agree with the gerrymandering. To throw a glob of Montgomery County in with rural Western Maryland is totally absurd. I voted against redistricting today on principle.

Anyway, I am surprised how well Romney is doing in Virginia. I knew he was likely to win, but the margins look wider than I expected.

Yeah, I'm not for gerrymandering either. I think they need to do redistricting based on the census but in a way that makes sense. I didn't vote for 5 (don't think I voted against it either).

I don't know how you can say that when Obama has led in the final VA polls. The results that are in are from rural areas. VA results are meaningless until NOVA starts reporting results.

a decent part of NoVA has reported in (but yes more will do so). If you look at the comparison between 2008 though, Obama is doing worse than he did in 2008 there so far. That doesn't mean he'll lose it but I'm giving VA to Romney.

Don't know where you're watching your coverage, but I am talking about NOVA. I'm watching live results as they roll in, and it's not looking as good as it should be for Obama. I also volunteered in Virginia and I am surprised by the Romney margins throughout the state. Thought it would be closer. Oh well. But, it's true- it isn't over.

Something to note about early poll results: MUCH of it has to do with which districts are in. If a lot of smaller counties are in, it will look like Romney is ahead. If only the cities are in, it looks like Obama is ahead. That's why Virginia and Ohio look how they do right now.

That's exactly the same reason Romney is leading in the national popular vote.

The urban areas are going to bring in a lot more votes.

Interesting. In the Senate races, looks like Maine picked an independent over a Republican or a Democrat. Guy's name is Angus King. From what I've read, he's taking over Olympia Snowe's seat...but will caucus with the Democrats.

Also wait until the west coast brings their stuff in, too. I suspect this will all be deemed over via the projections before the polls close out west.

PA, OH, VA, and maybe a couple of small states likely to go democratic will sew it up because there's no way Romney could get anything on the west coast. The only glory he will have is to have the projected lead until the urban areas of bigger eastern and midwestern states get tallied up. If Romney loses a mountain state, it's all over.

We have a ballot initiative to change it in Ohio so a bipartisan commission draws the lines.
