Clear Recent Contacts

Hi all

Just wondering if anyone knows how to clear the recent contacts list in the messages app, deleted numbers seem to be appearing as recent other in the list when filling out the contact section of a message.

Thanks

James

In iOS 6 supposedly there is no way. The recommended solution is to restore your phone and setup as new.

I have the same problem on my iPhone 5 with my deleted contacts showing up when inputting their name in messages.

If you are on the Recents screen, click the EDIT button at the top right. Then click the Clear button on the top left. Then follow the prompt.

Oops...I was instructing on the Recents in the call area, not the messages. Sorry

Did anybody find a fix for this? I'm having the same issue.

Look like a restore as new is the only fix - too much effort for a tiny problem.
