you can do voice calls with the speaker or voice mic right now.

I'm moving to Canada for Graduate School in January and plan on using my iPad mini LTE (with Google Voice and Skype) as my phone. Though I will likely be there for several years, I'm not interested in signing a multi-year contract in a "foreign" country.
