Post iPad not starting up when charged

I have an original iPad and I was charging it a few nights ago. When, I went to get it off of the charger, it said that the battery was dead. Well, I went to get ready and got some breakfast. I came back, and the iPad came on and worked fine. The battery showed 100% and lasted all day. This has happened twice in the past week.

Did you try restarting it? Hold down both buttons, don't hit the slide button but continue holding the buttons until you see the Apple logo. Perhaps it just needs to reset.

Yes, I did. I'm hoping to avoid a hard reset. I'm gonna wait a few days now to see what it does now.

Have you calibrated the battery lately?

Run your battery down until your ipad turns off on it's own. Then fully recharge it.

It's doing it again this morning. This is starting to get annoying. It won't even turn on now.
