Trouble texting/imessage

I'm having some issues with one person in my contacts list. I do not have a data plan with my iPhone, but when this person tries to text me, it automatically tries to go as an imessage. She can receive all the texts I send her (regardless if they are imessage while on wifi, or just texts), but I can only receive what she sends me once I get onto a wifi network. Any suggestions?
