iPhone 4S with wrong label at back

Hello, I have just received a new replacement for my iphone 4s. But when I get back home, I find out the the labels in the back cover of the phone are totally different from all the iphones that I've ever seen. It labels "Designed by apple in california". However the other labels are different. The other labels are not in English. It seems to be like japanese or chinese (show in picture). What's wrong with my phone? Has anybody experienced before? Please answer me.

It might help if you told us what part of the world you are in and where you got it from.

Well I'll be the first to say:

Looks like an Asian iPhone to me.

Where did you get the back replaced?

That's Korean on the back.

Pretty interesting to know that. Admittedly I'm a bit useless with knowing the differences between Chinese/Japanese/Korean symbols.

Looks Korean to me too (the circles in the characters give it away)

If you got it replaced by a 3rd party company, it was probably an Asian one and just gave you a stock asian back.

If you got it replaced by Apple, it may of been a mixup.

I personally think it's pretty cool and I'd keep it, but if you got it from Apple and you don't like it, take it back for another replacement.

Interesting about asian characters - Korean has all those oval characters, Chinese has a bunch of hash marks and Japanese has all those rooftop arrow like symbols.

Yup, think it's korean. By the way, are you 100% sure it's an original iPhone and not a cheap knock-off? Knock offs can have different emblems on the back but so can iPhones which were produced in different countries such as Korea.

Cheers!

That is indeed a Korean iPhone. How do I know? I work for Korea Telecom.

If it's a 4S, it's unlocked out of the box, so no need to worry about that. The only thing of note is that Korean / Japanese iPhones are required (by law) to make the "camera" noise regardless of whether the sound is turned down or if the phone is on vibrate. For some reason it makes the sound whenever you take a screenshot as well. As long as that doesn't bother you, you should be fine.

can you turn the volume down? That would kind of negate it, or cover the speaker.

Definitely written in Korean.

The law is that the camera makes the shutter noise because of some perverts who had been photographing women on crowded tube trains. They would sit with their phone on their knee or something and take photos up skirts. So, your jokey answer was in fact spot on. The law originated in Japan, but was adopted by South Korea too.

PS. I have finally sucked it up and ordered my first iPhone. It will take 2-3 weeks and I just about can't wait!
