Apple 24" Cinema Display still a good deal?

I don't know. That's a lot of money to bet on something that is already 3+ years old. You can get a refurb 27" ACD or TBD for $850 directly from Apple and they come with a 1 year warranty.
I'm thinking to much.
I bought a 23" ACD for 300 but, it included a Magic mouse, Wireless kb, and a Mstand.
I'd pay 400 for a 24" ACD in good condition....

Displays in general have dropped off a cliff in pricing. Paying that much for the 24" seems expensive. NEC made better ones, and you can find one new around that price range with a 3-4 year warranty. They aren't as pretty as a piece of furniture, but they are nice displays.

It seems that I wont be buying a refurbished Thunderbolt Display after reading all the negative reviews on the Apple online store. So I am in the market for a 24" monitor with display port and 1920x1200 resolution with a budget of $500. I intend to use this with a 2012 2.3 GHz i7 Mac Mini.
I'd appreciate it if you guys could point me in the right direction to a great monitor.

I have several.
I have a "good" professional display for Photoshop
and use these for everything else.
Viewing angle is a bit weak
but
nothing to cry about
as long as you have a great monitor for "color".

You could spend less for better, although overkill and not apple, just showing what you could get with that money, not that this is what you should get necessarily

That's way too much. I was considering the 24" ACD for myself a while ago, but I couldn't justify paying $500ish for a monitor that was already several years old and had no warranty. They are simply overpriced now for their age.
Instead I'd recommend either an NEC, Eizo or maybe a Samsung.. IPS (or PLS in Samsung's case), if you want to spend that much.
If you want to go used, go cheap-ish... you can find used NEC 2490s on ebay for <$200 -- look for non-touchscreen ones with 10k hrs or less. I got mine for $150, w/ 9K hours on it. If you don't mind VAs, you could alternatively get a NEC 2470 for around $125ish, manufacturer refurbished, on eBay.

I just looked at the NEC 2470 on eBay for $237 and $245 with "Best Offer". However it only has DVI connection. Would I need a mini display port to DVI cable to use with a Mac Mini?

Sorry for the late reply, just checked these forums today.
If going single display, you can use the mini hdmi to dvi that came with your mini. If going dual, you'll need a mini display port to dvi adapter (and dvi cable). You can get those cheap on ebay too. DVI cables are like $3 shipped on eBay.
But that is too much for the 2470. I wouldn't go more than $125-$150ish for it, and ideally it'd be NEC refurbished. You can get 2490s for less than the price you listed. Somtimes with eBay you'll need to wait it out until a good deal just happens to pop up.
