Can I install HDD in optical bay of 27" iMac 11.1 Late 2009

I have a 27" Late 2009 iMac (11,1) and wanted to replace the HDD with an SSD and put the HDD where the optical bay is. Will the HDD fit there? Do I need any sort of kit to install it.

I could put the SSD drive in the optical bay but with this model the SSD can only get to a 1.5 GB "negotiated Link Speed" on the SATA 2 connector located there. Rather to take full advantage of the SSD drive if possible.

No, the HDD won't fit where the optical drive is.
Just put the SSD there and you're good.
