Every now and then I'll test the speed of my HDD just to see how it's doing and the last few times I've done it, I seem to be getting some pretty slow results.

Right now I'm getting:

62.8 MB/s Write and 57.1 MB/s Read.
(Tested with Black Magic Designs app)

63.0 MB/s Write and 72.0 MB/s Read.
(Tested with AJA's App)

That's not right is it?

I've been contemplating getting an SSD. Should I start looking into to that?

MBP Specs:
17" Mid-2010
2.66 Core i7
8GB of RAM
MacBook Pro 6.1

HDD:
Stock Hitachi 500GB 7200rpm

I have the same specs but a 13" and that's pretty much what I'm getting from BlackMagic.
But I know nothing about speeds or what should be running. That's why I'm searching lol.

If your drive is getting full the test may be getting run on the slower inner tracks.

spinning disks aren't the same speed through the entire disk.

That might be it, I have about 100GB's of free space.

I'll start looking at some SSD's.
