How tough is a MBA keyboard?

Hello all.

I accidentally dropped my INTENSO external hard drive onto my MacBook air keyboard. The drop was from about 3 inches in the air and now it's taking 10-15 seconds to shutdown but startup is fast. Could ny accident have caused this or are apple keyboards robust to withstand such *trauma*?
