Trying to help a student who has a G4 Powerbook 1.5 GHz with 1.25 gigs of ram running 10.5.8

Even though airport says everything is good, she couldn't get online, pages wouldn't load. I ran disk utilities and it found nothing wrong.

I ran fix permissions and it found a bunch of stuff to fix, but also a couple notifications, the 2nd one seems weird:

permissions differ on 'private/var/spool/cups/cache/rss', should be…

warning: SUID file 'usr/sbin/vpnd' has been modified and will not be repaired.

Any idea what might be going on there and what to do about it?

After fixing permissions I could get Safari to load but it took a loooong time.
