What is the opening prompt supposed to be in Terminal?

What is the opening prompt supposed to be on Terminal. My computer is not functioning and I need to use Terminal but it opens at bash 3.2 basically and whatever I do it says not found? I have apple jack on my computer but I can't find it or anything else in Terminal.

How do I get started please?

Copy and paste this into a Terminal window:
Code:
echo "$PATH"
Then copy and paste the complete output into a reply post.

When you have problems with Terminal command-lines, please post the complete actual command-line you used, along with the complete actual output (error message or otherwise). Copy and paste it, rather than retyping it into a post.

If we don't know exactly what you did, we have no way to know what went wrong.

EDIT
There are multiple places where Apple Jack can be obtained. Please identify where you got yours from.
