New iMac 27 now on sale by Amazon.com for pre-order, but there's a catch

Note that this isn't a third-party seller Amazon.com is taking pre-orders for "Apple iMac MD096LL/A 27-Inch Desktop (NEWEST VERSION)" and it will ship by Prime.

http://www.amazon.com/Apple-MD096LL-...3989115&sr=1-7

Asking price? $99,900.

Interesting -- PC Connection now listing the 21.5 inch iMac for preorder as well. I have no idea how long this has been on their site.

Similar page for the base 21.5 iMac has been online for at least a week or so according to Google's cache:

Give me $99,900 and I'll tell you. Unless your name is Herman Cain. Then it'll be $99,999.

I am awfully curious. I guess I should PayPal it right over.

You probably should, because I'm giving away $99 apparently. I thought the price was just $99,900, but upon second glance it was $99,999. However, maybe demand was so strong that the price actually increased since my initial post.

Come to think of it, I want an effin' commision.

MacMall lets you choose the mac to configure and even has all of the options (I saw them for a brief second while the page loaded) but they are all set to "display: none;" after page load. In inspector you can unhide the options one by one

went through the options and unhid them for the 27"

but once you click anything it hides them all again and doesn't update the prices

These are all very good signs. I'm looking forward to tomorrow. Even if the 27" isn't available yet, the ability to order before my fiscal year ends is pretty important.
