Booting up X

Ok guys here at school they are still using 9 and I want to make the switch but would like to try out OSX. How can I get it to boot up X and not 9?
 
Assuming that OS X and OS 9 are installed on the computer, and assuming you are allowed to use OS X,

In OS 9, go to Apple Menu > Control Panels > Startup Disk > [Choose the disk with OS X, not the one with OS 9]

Reboot.
